This listing is for a Grundfos HQQE 16mm mechanical shaft seal for selected CR, CRI and CRN 10/15/20 vertical multistage pumps. The associated Grundfos boxed service-kit reference is 96511844, and the individual / bulk-pack seal reference is 96484071.
This is the HQQE version: a Type H balanced cartridge O-ring seal with silicon carbide / silicon carbide seal faces and EPDM elastomers. It should not be confused with HQQV, which uses FKM / Viton elastomers instead of EPDM.
This is a shaft seal service part only. It is not a complete pump, pump head, motor, chamber stack or hydraulic assembly.
Condition: supplied in as new surplus condition – the item has not been installed or used but may show minor cosmetic markings from storage and handling. Guarantee: supplied with a 2-year guarantee.

Grundfos bulk-pack references for this HQQE seal family may use 96484071 as the individual seal reference. Please use 96511844 and 96484071 as cross-references rather than assuming every package or kit configuration is identical.

In plain English, this is a balanced cartridge mechanical shaft seal with silicon carbide / silicon carbide seal faces and EPDM elastomers.
The difference is the final letter. HQQE uses EPDM elastomers. HQQV uses FKM / Viton elastomers. The seal-face pairing remains silicon carbide / silicon carbide, but the elastomer material changes, so they should not be treated as automatically interchangeable.
Type H is a balanced cartridge O-ring seal design. The cartridge construction makes replacement easier because the seal is supplied as an assembled unit, while the balanced design is suitable for higher-pressure applications when correctly matched to the pump, liquid and duty.
Suitability depends on the pump materials, liquid temperature, pressure, concentration and chemical compatibility. EPDM is commonly used for water-based duties such as clean water, treated water and some heating or cooling applications. It is not normally selected for mineral oils, fuels or liquids that attack EPDM.
It may be suitable for some water-glycol duties, but the exact glycol type, concentration, inhibitor package, temperature and pressure should be checked. Glycol can increase viscosity, affect seal-face lubrication and alter pump performance.
This seal is associated with selected Grundfos CR / CRI / CRN 10, 15 and 20 pump sizes, plus some related electronic variants. Always check the existing pump nameplate, fitted shaft seal code, shaft/seal size, pressure version and service parts list before ordering.
No. Mechanical shaft seals rely on a thin lubricating film between the seal faces. Running the pump dry, or without proper liquid at the seal faces, can quickly damage the seal.
The list below is based on publicly indexed Grundfos Product Center pages, product datasheets and supplier spare-parts references where 96511844, 96484071 or HQQE appears against specific pump models. It should be treated as a reference list of models found, not a guaranteed complete Grundfos internal compatibility database.
This list is deliberately comprehensive, but it is still based on publicly found model evidence rather than a guaranteed complete Grundfos internal compatibility database. Always confirm the existing pump model, shaft seal code, shaft/seal size, pressure version and service parts list before ordering.
