    Applications (manufacturer guidance)

The EF pump is described as suitable for both domestic and industrial applications. Typical duties include:

    • Drainage and surface water with small impurities
    • Wastewater with fibres (e.g. from laundries)
    • Wastewater without discharge from toilets
    • Wastewater from commercial buildings without discharge from toilets

    Construction & service features

    • Materials: cast iron submersible pump with integrated single-phase motor
    • Oil chamber: intermediate oil chamber pre-filled with non-toxic special oil
    • Cable plug: plug connection for easy dismantling; hermetically sealed (polyurethane) to help prevent water ingress via the cable
    • Serviceability: clamp between pump housing and motor for safe dismantling/assembly and field inspection without special tools
    • Shaft sealing: double shaft seal in cartridge design for fast seal replacement in the field and reduced risk of incorrect installation
    • Motor build: insulation class F; deep-groove ball bearings (greased-for-life)

    Delivery & Shipping

    • UK and international delivery available
    • Next working day dispatch is often possible (subject to courier cut-off and package size/weight)

    Frequently Asked Questions

What does the model number mean?

    • EF – Grundfos effluent pump range
    • 30 – 30 mm free passage (maximum spherical particle size)
    • 50 – nominal outlet port diameter (mm class)
    • 09 – 0.9 kW motor output
    • 2 – 2-pole motor
    • 1 – single-phase motor
    • 5 – 50 Hz
    • 02 – 230 V direct-on-line (DOL) starting configuration

    What is a single-vane, semi-open impeller?

A single-vane, semi-open impeller uses one main sweeping blade with a more open flow path than a traditional multi-channel “non-clog” impeller. This design helps solids and fibres pass through with fewer tight passages where material can snag, while still producing stronger pressure and efficiency than a vortex (free-flow) impeller.

Why choose this over a vortex pump or a non-clog pump?

A simple way to think about it is that a single-vane semi-open impeller sits in the middle:

    • Compared with a vortex (free-flow) impeller: it typically provides better hydraulic efficiency and head per kW (lower running cost), but is not as “wipe-proof” as a true vortex design.
    • Compared with a channel/non-clog impeller: it is usually more forgiving with fibres and stringy material, because the flow path is more open, but may be slightly less efficient at the very best duty points than a highly optimised channel hydraulic.

It is commonly selected for drainage and surface water with small impurities, and for effluent/wastewater duties with fibres (e.g. from laundries) where you want a balance between clog resistance and efficiency.

What discharge connection does this pump have?

This pump has a 2" NPT threaded discharge connection. A suitable threaded adaptor can be used to connect into your hose, pipework or fittings as required.

    Can model numbers be interchanged?

Occasionally it is possible to swap different model or part codes for alternative versions, depending on the duty point, installation type and electrical configuration. Please call us for a recommendation before ordering if you are looking to replace a different code.

What is the maximum installation depth?

Maximum installation depth is 7 m.

Do I need a control panel for this 230V single-phase pump?

Yes. Single-phase submersible pumps require a dedicated control arrangement with the correct start components and overload protection and must not be connected directly to a raw mains supply.

    Do accessories come fitted?

No. Accessories are supplied separately and are not factory-fitted.
