This listing is for a Grundfos SL1 sewage / wastewater pump with an S tube® impeller, a DN65 flanged outlet, and a single-phase motor variant. The SL1/SLV family is used across municipal, commercial and industrial wastewater duties where solids handling and serviceability are important.

    • Impeller type: SL1 with S tube® hydraulic
    • Discharge connection: DN65 flanged outlet (standard flange interface for compatible fittings and pipework)
    • Protection & monitoring: thermal switches in the motor windings
    • Variant: standard non-EX version

    Operating limits (summary)

    • Operating mode: intended for submerged wastewater duty
    • Liquid temperature: 0–40 °C
    • pH range: 6.5–14 for standard materials; for fluctuating pH values, 4–14 is stated as acceptable guidance

Applications & selection guidance (SL1 vs SLV)

Grundfos provides a selection table intended as guidance when choosing between SL1 (S tube®) and SLV (vortex). Selection should be based on the pumped liquid characteristics, solids/fibre loading and operating pattern.

    • Dry solids content: up to 3% – SL1 or SLV may be suitable; above this (up to 5%) – guidance points to SLV
    • Fibre/solids content: relatively low – SL1 or SLV; relatively high – SLV is typically preferred
    • Long fibres (e.g. laundries): both SL1 and SLV are shown as suitable in the guidance table

Typical duties shown as suitable for SL1 include:

    • Stormwater, groundwater, drainage and surface water
    • Drainage and surface water with small impurities
    • Abrasive surface water
    • Domestic wastewater including discharge from toilets
    • Municipal sewage
    • Sewage from commercial buildings
    • Industrial process water

    Construction & protection features

    • Mechanical cartridge shaft seal arrangement
    • Thermal protection: thermal switches in the stator windings to protect against overheating
    • Corrosion protection: protective coating system on cast iron components
    • Accessories: ordered accessories are supplied separately and are not factory-fitted

    Delivery & Shipping

    • UK and international delivery available
    • Next working day dispatch is often possible (subject to courier cut-off and package size/weight)

    Frequently Asked Questions

What does the model number mean?
SL – sewage / wastewater pump range
    1 – S tube® impeller (SL1)
    50 – 50 mm free spherical passage
    65 – DN65 outlet
    11 – 1.1 kW motor output
    2 – 2-pole motor
    1 – single-phase motor
    5 – 50 Hz
    02 – 230V, direct-on-line (DOL) starting configuration

What discharge connection does this pump have?
This pump is supplied with a standard DIN DN65 flange. Because it follows the DIN standard, compatible fittings, guide claws or accessories from Grundfos or other manufacturers can be connected to the outlet. This often allows connection into existing systems originally using pumps from brands such as Flygt, Lowara, Sulzer, Wilo, KSB and other manufacturers, subject to site configuration.

Why choose S tube® (SL1) instead of a vortex pump?
The SL1 S tube® hydraulic is typically selected where you want a balance of energy efficiency and solids handling. An S-tube/channel-style hydraulic guides the flow through a defined passage, which can provide higher hydraulic efficiency compared with a vortex design.

    In general:

    • SL1 (S tube®) is often chosen for regular operating hours where reduced energy consumption and stable performance are priorities, and where the duty is within typical wastewater solids loading.
    • SLV (vortex) is often chosen where maximum clog tolerance is the priority, particularly with elevated fibre/solids loading.

    Can model numbers be interchanged?
Occasionally it is possible to swap different model or part codes for alternative versions within the SL range, depending on the duty point, installation type and electrical configuration. Please call us for a recommendation before ordering if you are looking to replace a different code.

What is the maximum particle size this pump can pass?
The pump has a 50 mm free spherical passage.

What is the maximum installation depth?
Maximum installation depth is 10 m.

Do I need a control panel for this 230/240V single-phase pump?
Yes. Single-phase submersible pumps require a dedicated control arrangement with the correct start components and overload protection and must not be connected directly to a raw mains supply.

    Do accessories come fitted?
No. Accessories are supplied separately and are not factory-fitted.
