These figures provide simplified information for searching, filtering and initial comparison. They are not a complete specification. Exact details depend on the model and configuration.
Power rating: Usually the motor’s rated mechanical output (P2). Electrical input power (P1) is a different value. Check the product’s nameplate or manufacturer’s documentation to confirm which rating applies.
Outlet size: The nominal size class is expressed on a millimetre basis: for example, DN40 denotes a nominal 40 mm size. It does not specify the exact measured opening, connection type, thread, flange drilling or pressure rating.
Head and flow: Indicative figures describing the pump’s performance envelope, rather than a single operating duty point. Do not assume maximum flow is available at maximum head, or that every combination within the ranges is achievable. Minimum figures do not establish safe continuous operating limits. Consult the relevant performance curve.
Check the product description, nameplate and manufacturer’s documentation before selection or installation. Please contact us before purchasing if you need help confirming suitability or connection details.

This listing is for a Grundfos CH 12-60 A-W-A-AQQV horizontal multistage centrifugal pump, product number 4P498030. It is a three-phase, 415V class pressure boosting and water transfer pump with Rp 1 1/2 threaded connections, a motor rated at 3.40 kW input power (P1) and an AQQV mechanical shaft seal.
The Grundfos CH range is designed for liquid transfer, pressure boosting, water supply, cooling and compatible industrial circulation duties. This version combines a cast-iron inlet/discharge housing with stainless-steel hydraulic components and a mechanically sealed, close-coupled motor arrangement.
Condition: Supplied in as-new surplus condition, with a disclosed defect: there is a small crack in the terminal-box cover. Please refer to the photographs. The damaged cover should be replaced before electrical installation to restore the intended enclosure protection. An existing unit could provide a donor cover.
Guarantee: Supplied with a 2-year guarantee.

The Grundfos CH 12-60 is a horizontal multistage centrifugal pump designed for pressure boosting, water transfer and compatible industrial circulation duties.
Its multistage hydraulic arrangement allows it to produce relatively high pressure while maintaining a useful flow rate. It can be used as a standalone pump or incorporated into a correctly designed pressure boosting system.
The actual maximum head shown on this pump's nameplate is 59 metres. The flow and head depend on the operating point on the pump curve. The pump does not deliver maximum flow and maximum pressure simultaneously.
The AQQV mechanical shaft seal uses an O-ring seal arrangement with silicon carbide / silicon carbide seal faces and FKM / Viton secondary elastomers.
The silicon carbide faces provide good wear resistance, while the FKM elastomers offer chemical compatibility with selected oils, lubricants and industrial liquids where EPDM may not be appropriate.
The AQQV seal should not be regarded as universally suitable for every liquid. Chemical composition, temperature, pressure, viscosity and the other wetted pump materials must be considered.
Both seals use silicon carbide / silicon carbide seal faces, but the secondary elastomers differ:
Grundfos commonly specifies EPDM versions for water-based duties, while FKM versions are used for selected liquids containing oils or hydrocarbons.
The seals should not be considered automatically interchangeable without checking the pump duty and liquid compatibility.
The Grundfos CH range is designed primarily for thin, clean, non-aggressive and non-explosive liquids without solid particles or fibres.
For this AQQV version, suitable applications may include:
The Grundfos CH / CHN liquid-selection guidance identifies AQQV as an appropriate seal option for certain oil-containing liquids. However, the pump materials, liquid viscosity, concentration and operating conditions must all be checked before use.
Not intended for: Sewage, dirty water, sludge, abrasive solids, fibres or liquids that attack the pump's materials.
The fitted AQQV seal uses FKM elastomers, which are not the preferred Grundfos selection for many water-glycol applications.
The Grundfos CH / CHN liquid guidance generally identifies AQQE for common ethylene-glycol and propylene-glycol water mixtures.
If the system contains glycol or antifreeze, the exact mixture, concentration, temperature and shaft seal compatibility should be checked before using this AQQV version.
The AQQV shaft seal can be suitable for selected oil-containing and hydrocarbon-based liquids, subject to full material compatibility.
However, the standard CH pump is not automatically suitable for pumping flammable liquids such as petrol, diesel or other fuels simply because it has FKM seals. Those applications require a separate assessment of the liquid, pump construction, electrical equipment and applicable safety requirements.
This pump should not be used for flammable or explosive liquid duties without explicit confirmation that the complete pump and installation are approved for the application.
The Grundfos CH range has a standard liquid temperature range of 0°C to +90°C.
The pump nameplate identifies the following maximum operating-pressure ratings:
The permissible operating pressure varies with liquid temperature and must be checked against the manufacturer's pressure/temperature limits for the intended operating conditions.
These are operating-pressure limits for the pump, not the additional pressure increase produced by the pump. The complete system must remain within the applicable pressure rating.
The CH 12-60 belongs to the 12 m³/h nominal flow family and has a maximum head of 59 metres.
The pump nameplate identifies a rated duty of 12 m³/h at 45 metres head. The exact performance across the operating range should be confirmed using the relevant pump curve.
The available flow decreases as the system resistance increases. Pump selection should therefore be based on the required flow and head together, rather than maximum head alone.
The minimum inlet pressure depends on the operating flow, water temperature and installation conditions.
Grundfos recommends using the relevant NPSH curve plus a safety margin of 0.5 metres when assessing the required inlet conditions.
Insufficient inlet pressure can cause cavitation, noise, reduced performance and damage to the pump. Suction pipework should therefore be correctly sized, with unnecessary restrictions avoided.
No. The Grundfos CH 12-60 is a non-self-priming horizontal multistage pump.
The pump must be correctly filled and primed before operation. Where it is installed above the liquid level, the suction arrangement must be designed to maintain prime and provide sufficient inlet pressure.
The pump must not be operated dry.
This pump has a three-phase 50Hz motor rated for:
For a normal UK 400V / 415V three-phase supply, the motor is connected in the appropriate star configuration in accordance with its nameplate and wiring diagram.
The motor requires suitable external overload protection. Electrical installation and rotation-direction checks should be carried out by a qualified person.
No. The standard three-phase Grundfos CH motor does not incorporate built-in thermal overload protection.
It must be connected through a correctly rated motor starter or suitable protection equipment, with the overload setting matched to the motor nameplate current.
The standard CH pump uses cast-iron suction and discharge components with stainless-steel hydraulic components.
The CHN version uses stainless-steel construction for the suction and discharge components as well, providing improved material suitability for selected more demanding liquid applications.
This listing is for the standard CH version, not a fully stainless-steel CHN pump.
There is a small crack in the terminal-box cover. This has been disclosed in the condition description and should be visible in the product photographs.
The manufacturer's standard motor specification includes IP54 enclosure protection, but this rating should not be assumed to remain effective with a cracked cover.
The cover and terminal enclosure should be inspected by a competent electrician, and the damaged cover replaced before the pump is connected to the electrical supply.
It may be suitable as a replacement for an existing Grundfos CH 12-60 installation, but the exact product number, hydraulic performance, shaft seal, electrical supply and installation dimensions should be compared.
This is the 4P498030 AQQV version. Other CH 12-60 variants may use different shaft seal materials or electrical configurations.
