    Grundfos CRE 2-110 A-F-A-AUUE Vertical Multistage Pump – 230V MGE E-Motor (40770011 / 85555105) #4918

This listing is for a Grundfos CRE 2-110 A-F-A-AUUE vertical multistage pump fitted with a single-phase Grundfos MGE E-motor. The Grundfos product page for 40770011 identifies the hydraulic pump as a CR 2-110 pump without motor, while the physical pump nameplate on this stock item identifies the complete assembly as CRE.

This is best understood as a CR 2-110 hydraulic pump end fitted with a Grundfos MGE frequency-controlled E-motor. CRE pumps use the CR vertical multistage hydraulic design, with the key difference being the fitted E-motor with integrated frequency converter for variable-speed operation.

Important material note: this is the standard CR/CRE A material version with a cast iron pump head and base and stainless steel hydraulic components. It is not a full stainless-steel CRI, CRN, CRIE or CRNE version. Please check material compatibility before using with aggressive liquids, chemically treated water or specialist process fluids.

Condition: supplied in as new surplus condition – the unit has not been installed or used but may show minor cosmetic markings from storage and handling. Guarantee: supplied with a 2-year guarantee.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the manufacturer page show CR 2-110, but the pump says CRE?

Grundfos product number 40770011 refers to the CR 2-110 hydraulic pump end, and the manufacturer page describes it as a pump without motor. The pump we are supplying has a CRE nameplate and is fitted with a Grundfos MGE E-motor, so it should be treated as a CRE assembly built around the CR 2-110 hydraulic unit.

What is the difference between CR and CRE?

CR and CRE pumps use the same basic vertical multistage hydraulic pump design. A standard CR pump is normally fitted with a conventional fixed-speed motor, while a CRE pump is fitted with a Grundfos MGE E-motor with an integrated frequency converter for variable-speed control.

    Is this a stainless-steel pump?

No. This is the standard CR/CRE A material version, not a CRI/CRN stainless-steel version. The pump has a cast iron head and base with stainless steel hydraulic components. If the application requires stainless-steel housing or stainless wetted construction throughout, please check whether a CRI, CRN, CRIE or CRNE version is required instead.

What does CRE 2-110 A-F-A-AUUE mean?

    • CRE – Grundfos vertical multistage pump with integrated E-motor / frequency converter
    • 2 – nominal flow size, around the 2 m³/h class
    • 110 – hydraulic stack / stage designation
    • A – pump version
    • F – DIN flange connection
    • A – standard CR/CRE material version with cast iron head/base and stainless steel hydraulic components
    • AUUE – mechanical shaft seal code

What does the AUUE shaft seal mean?

The AUUE shaft seal is an O-ring type mechanical shaft seal with a fixed seal driver, tungsten carbide rotating face, tungsten carbide stationary seat and EPDM elastomers.

The final letter is important: E means EPDM, while V would mean FKM / Viton. Because this pump is marked AUUE, the correct seal description is tungsten carbide / tungsten carbide with EPDM elastomers.

    Why choose an AUUE seal?

The tungsten carbide / tungsten carbide face pairing is a hard-wearing mechanical seal arrangement. It is generally chosen where a more robust seal-face material is required than a carbon-based seal face, provided the pumped liquid is compatible with EPDM and the rest of the pump materials.

For this CRE pump family, AUUE should be treated as suitable for liquid temperatures from 0 °C to +120 °C, subject to liquid compatibility, pressure, concentration and operating conditions.

    Is this a fixed-speed or variable-speed pump?

This is a CRE pump assembly with a Grundfos MGE E-motor. The motor has an integrated frequency converter, allowing variable-speed operation and control rather than being limited to one fixed-speed curve.

    What motor is fitted?

The fitted motor is identified as Grundfos motor no. 85555105, from the MGE 80B E-motor family. The motor data found for this number lists it as a 1.1 kW, 1 × 220–240 V motor with an approximate speed range of 700–2780 rpm.

What liquids can this pump be used with?

This pump is intended for clean, non-aggressive liquids compatible with the pump materials and AUUE shaft seal. The pump is the standard CR/CRE material version with a cast iron head and base, not a full stainless-steel CRI/CRN version, so material compatibility must be checked where the liquid is treated, chemically dosed, aggressive or process-specific.

Typical duties include clean water, treated water and suitable process-water applications where the liquid is compatible with cast iron, stainless steel hydraulic components and EPDM seal elastomers.

    Not suitable for:

    • Liquids containing solids or fibres
    • Dirty water, wastewater or drainage duties
    • Flammable or explosive liquids
    • Mineral oils or aggressive chemicals unless compatibility has been confirmed
    • Seawater or aggressive saline solutions unless the full material and seal compatibility has been checked

Can this be used with glycol?

Water-glycol mixtures may be suitable, but the exact glycol type, concentration, inhibitor package, temperature and duty point must be checked. The AUUE seal uses EPDM elastomers with tungsten carbide / tungsten carbide seal faces, so it should not be assumed suitable for every glycol formulation without checking the liquid compatibility.

Glycol can increase liquid density and viscosity, which may reduce hydraulic performance and increase motor load. For glycol duties, the final duty point should be checked against the installed system conditions before ordering.

Can this be used as a direct replacement?

It may be suitable as a replacement where the existing pump is a matching CRE 2-110 or CR 2-110 arrangement with compatible hydraulic duty, connection size, pressure rating, voltage and control requirements.

Because this unit combines a CR 2-110 hydraulic end with an MGE E-motor, please compare the existing pump nameplate, motor details, pipework connections, pressure rating and control method before ordering. If you are unsure, send us photos of the existing pump and nameplates and we can help check suitability.

    Is this a new pump?

This listing is for as new surplus stock. The unit has not been installed or used but may show cosmetic marks from storage and handling.
