Grundfos provides a selection table intended as guidance when choosing between SL1 (S tube®) and SLV (SuperVortex). Selection should be based on the pumped liquid, dry solids content, fibre loading, operating hours and site conditions.
Typical duties shown as suitable for SL1 include:
This pump has a 100 mm free spherical passage, which corresponds to the stated maximum solids size for this model.
This model has a DN150 flanged outlet. This gives flexibility for connecting compatible DN150 pipework, fittings or installation accessories, subject to matching flange standard and site arrangement.
In many cases, a DIN flanged wastewater pump can be adapted to suit existing installations using the relevant DN150 guide claw, base elbow or pipework adaptor. Compatibility depends on the existing guide-rail system, flange drilling, discharge centreline and installation dimensions, so please send photos or measurements before purchase if you are unsure.
The SL1 S tube® hydraulic is typically selected where a balance of energy efficiency and solids handling is required. An S-tube / channel-style hydraulic guides the flow through a defined passage, which can provide higher hydraulic efficiency compared with a vortex design, where a larger proportion of energy is used to create a free-flow vortex in the casing.
In general, SL1 is often chosen for regular wastewater duties where efficiency and stable performance are important. SLV / vortex is often selected where maximum clog tolerance is the priority, particularly with elevated fibre or solids loading.
Yes. The Grundfos selection table shows wastewater with long fibres, such as laundry wastewater, as a suitable application for both SL1 and SLV. Final selection should still be based on the full duty point and site conditions.
Yes. The standard package includes thermal protection in the stator windings and a moisture switch in the motor chamber. These should be connected to suitable monitoring and control equipment in accordance with the installation requirements.
Yes. This is an explosion-proof version and must be installed, controlled and protected according to the relevant Grundfos instructions and site hazardous-area requirements. The manufacturer operating note states that explosion-proof pumps must be fully submerged during operation.
Ordered accessories are normally supplied separately and are not factory-fitted unless specifically stated.
