    Grundfos TPD 65-120/2 A-F-A-BQQE-GW1 – 230V Twin-Head Flanged Heating Circulator Pump DN65 (98958002) #4916

This listing is for a Grundfos TPD 65-120/2 A-F-A-BQQE-GW1 twin-head in-line circulator pump with DN65 flanged connections and a 340 mm port-to-port length. The TPD range is the twin-head version of the Grundfos TP dry-rotor in-line circulator range, designed for clean heating, cooling and building-services circulation duties.

This is a complete twin-head flanged pump, not just a replacement pump head. Each pump head has its own motor and hydraulic assembly mounted on a common twin-head pump body, allowing duty/standby or alternating operation depending on the external control arrangement used on site.

Condition: supplied in as new surplus condition – the unit has not been installed or used but may show minor cosmetic markings from storage and handling. Guarantee: supplied with a 2-year guarantee.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What does the model number mean?

    • TPD – Grundfos twin-head dry-rotor in-line circulator pump
    • 65 – nominal inlet and outlet diameter, DN65
    • 120 – maximum head class, 120 dm / approximately 12 m
    • /2 – 2-pole motor speed class
    • A – basic pump version
    • F – DIN flange connection
    • A – standard cast iron material version
    • BQQE – mechanical shaft seal code
    • GW1 – motor / market / speed variant suffix

What connection does this pump have?

This pump has DN65 flanged connections with a 340 mm port-to-port length. Please check the flange size, pressure rating, pipework gap and bolt pattern against your existing pump before ordering.

Is this a complete pump or just a pump head?

This listing is for the complete twin-head flanged pump, including the pump body and both pump heads. It is not just a replacement motor head.

What is a TPD twin-head pump used for?

A TPD pump has two pump heads mounted on a common in-line pump body. This type of pump is commonly used where the system requires duty/standby operation, alternating operation or additional service resilience. The exact operating arrangement depends on the control panel or external control system used on site.

    Is this a fixed-speed or variable-speed pump?

This is a mains-operated TPD pump, not a TPE or TPED electronically speed-controlled model. It does not have an integrated variable-speed drive. If speed control is required, the complete system design and motor suitability should be checked before using any external control equipment.

What does the BQQE shaft seal mean?

    The BQQE seal code means:

    • B – rubber bellows seal construction
    • Q – silicon carbide rotating seal face
    • Q – silicon carbide stationary seal face
    • E – EPDM rubber secondary seal

BQQE is commonly used for clean heating and cooling water duties where the pumped liquid is compatible with EPDM. Silicon carbide / silicon carbide seal faces provide good wear resistance for demanding clean-water circulation applications.

What temperature range does this pump cover?

This pump is supplied with a BQQE mechanical shaft seal. For the supplied configuration, it should be treated as suitable for liquid temperatures from -25 °C to +120 °C, provided the liquid is compatible with the pump materials and EPDM seal components.

Grundfos gives higher-temperature guidance for the wider TP/TPD pump range, including inlet-pressure values above 120 °C, but those higher-temperature duties require the correct shaft seal selection. Shaft seals are serviceable/interchangeable parts, so another Grundfos seal may be fitted for a different duty, but it must be correctly matched to the exact pump model, liquid, temperature, pressure and operating conditions.

What liquids can this pump be used with?

The TP / TPD range is designed for clean, non-aggressive and non-flammable circulation liquids compatible with the pump materials and shaft seal. With the fitted BQQE seal, typical uses include clean heating water, chilled water, district heating water and suitable water/glycol mixtures within the seal and system limits.

    Not suitable for:

    • Liquids containing solids or fibres
    • Dirty water, wastewater or drainage duties
    • Flammable or explosive liquids
    • Mineral oils or aggressive chemicals unless compatibility has been confirmed
    • Seawater or aggressive saline solutions

Can this be used with glycol?

Yes, subject to the glycol type, concentration, temperature and duty point being checked. The Grundfos literature states that if glycol or another antifreeze agent is added to the pumped liquid, the pump must have a BQQE or DQQE shaft seal. This pump is supplied with a BQQE seal, which is one of the listed seal types for water/glycol mixtures.

The literature also states that liquids with higher density or kinematic viscosity than water can cause a considerable pressure drop, reduced hydraulic performance and increased power consumption. For glycol duties, the concentration, liquid temperature and system duty should therefore be checked before ordering. If the temperature or mixture falls outside the BQQE operating range, a different shaft seal, such as DQQE, may be required.

Is this suitable to replace other DN65 twin-head circulators?

This pump may be suitable as a replacement for matching DN65 in-line twin-head circulators from Grundfos, Wilo, Lowara or KSB where the flange size, port-to-port length, voltage, pressure rating and hydraulic duty are compatible.

Please compare the existing pump nameplate, flange details, pipework gap, electrical supply and duty point before ordering. If you are unsure, send us photos of the existing pump nameplate and installation and we can help check suitability.

What minimum inlet pressure is required?

The required minimum inlet pressure depends on liquid temperature. For TPD 65-120/2, Grundfos gives the following relative minimum inlet pressures:

    • 20 °C: 0.5 bar
    • 60 °C: 0.7 bar
    • 90 °C: 1.2 bar
    • 110 °C: 2.0 bar
    • 120 °C: 2.5 bar
    • 140 °C: 4.2 bar

However, this pump is supplied with a BQQE shaft seal, so the practical listed liquid temperature range should be treated as up to 120 °C unless the shaft seal is changed and confirmed for a higher-temperature duty. The inlet pressure, operating temperature and total system pressure should always be checked against the installed duty and manufacturer documentation before commissioning.

Does this pump have a mechanical shaft seal?

Yes. Unlike a wet-rotor MAGNA or UPS circulator, the TP / TPD range is a dry-rotor in-line centrifugal pump with a mechanical shaft seal. This model is supplied with a BQQE mechanical shaft seal.

What is the advantage of the top-pull-out design?

The top-pull-out design allows the motor, pump head and impeller assembly to be removed for service while the pump housing remains installed in the pipework. This can make maintenance easier on larger commercial installations, provided there is adequate access around the pump.

    Is this a new pump?

This listing is for as new surplus stock. The unit has not been installed or used but may show cosmetic marks from storage and handling.
